The Victorian Government has welcomed AGL’s decision to select Crib Point as the preferred site for its proposed Australian LNG import terminal.
Such a facility would allow the importation of cheaper gas from interstate and international markets – improving the reliability of our gas supply and reducing the price of gas for Victorian households and businesses.
AGL will need to undertake further investigations and to undergo the usual regulatory approvals processes before construction of the facility is finally confirmed.
The Government is working closely with AGL to ensure approvals processes are streamlined to avoid unnecessary delays and to bring relief to all Victorian gas consumers as quickly as possible.
The project would create 40 permanent jobs and many more during the construction phase.
