Serious animal cruelty, Goondi Bend

A man has been charged with serious animal cruelty following an investigation at Goondi Bend where a dog sustained a significant head injury.

A dog entered the yard of an Oak Street residence and twice attacked a dog that resided at the address.

It will be alleged the man used a sledgehammer to strike the dog in the head causing a serious injury to the animal.

The injured dog was located by animal control officers who transported the pet to a veterinary clinic for urgent medical care where it will undergo surgery.

A 25-year-old Goondi Bend man is scheduled to appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court on November 27 2017 charged with serious animal cruelty.
