Man dies in hospital after being pulled from water

A man has died after being pulled from the water at a beach south of Sydney.

About 1pm (Sunday 7 January 2018), emergency services were called to a beach in Port Kembla after members of the public pulled the man from the water.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition.

Today (Tuesday 9 January 2018), the man died in hospital.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are continuing their investigations and will prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner.
