Police appeal for vision – Suspicious fire, Surfers Paradise

Police are appealing for any CCTV or dash cam vision in relation to a suspicious fire at an abandoned Chinese restaurant at Surfers Paradise.

Shortly after 8pm police and other emergency services were called to the fire at the Surfers Paradise Boulevard premises.

Emergency services extinguished the fire however the building sustained substantial internal damage caused by the fire, smoke and water.

During the incident traffic was diverted off Surfers Paradise Boulevard Road around the fire site for safety reasons.

Forensic officers are continuing with their investigations into the cause of the fire.

The Northern Investigative Group (Gold Coast CIB) are investigating the incident.
