Aboriginal people across Western Australia will continue to benefit from programs that are improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people, as the WA Government provides funding certainty for Aboriginal health programs.
WA Health Minister Roger Cook met with some key service providers in the Kimberley to announce that the Government has committed funding to safeguard the long-term sustainability of Aboriginal health programs, ensuring that Aboriginal people across Western Australia will continue to benefit.
A total of 76 programs will continue to be delivered over the next 12 months including child and maternal health; sexual health education and support; tackling smoking; cancer screening; chronic disease prevention and treatment; improving access to mental health services; as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.
This approach is part of the Government’s commitment to work in partnership with Aboriginal communities, non-government organisations, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and other specialist providers to ensure a continued improvement in Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
