Protecting our unique environment

Northern Territory Environment Minister Eva Lawler launched the 2018 Environment Grants, calling for applications from organisations wanting to make a positive contribution to their communities.

The 2018 program is designed to engage the community to help mitigate environmental harm and raise awareness to safeguard the Territory’s unique environment.

Projects that have received funding previously include:

  • Better waste management and recycling
  • Invasive species management
  • Water conservation
  • Combating climate change

Applications are sought under the following three categories:

Small Environmental Project Grants that support communities to pursue initiatives that contribute to improved reduction, reuse and recycling of waste, and/or raise environmental awareness – closes 1 October 2018.

Environmental Project Grants for projects up to one year that reduce environmental harm and raise environmental awareness:

  • Expression of Interest phase – closes 3 September 2018
  • Final applications – closes 29 October 2018

Container Deposit Scheme Infrastructure Grants to provide Northern Territory organisations the opportunity to acquire infrastructure for the purpose of collecting approved containers for redemption at a Container Deposit Depot – closes 12 November 2018.
