The WA Government is urging up to 500 public housing tenants in the Busselton area to check their eligibility to slash the cost of their water bills.
A new rebate, scheduled to come into effect in October 2018, enables eligible tenants to claim a rebate of up to 50 per cent on the first 350 kilolitres of their water use – saving an estimated $168 per customer each year.
Eligibility for the new scheme requires registered tenants or lease holders to occupy the property as their ordinary place of residence and hold a Pensioner Concession Card, State Concession Card or a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
The WA Department of Communities estimates about 500 tenancies may be eligible for water rebates. As of September 17, 2018, 284 tenants have registered for the new rebate.
Tenants must register for the rebate directly with Busselton Water.
