Victoria is leading the export charge among new Northern Territory teachers, with nearly one quarter of 2019’s 170 recruits migrating from the southern state to take up their new roles.
NT Minister for Education Selena Uibo welcomed the new 2019 teachers at their orientation in Darwin, ahead of their commencement at Territory schools.
School resumes in the Northern Territory, with urban students back next Tuesday, 29 January 2019 and remote students returning next Wednesday, 30 January 2019.
The teacher orientation program gives new school staff an opportunity to familiarise themselves with teaching in the Territory, including cultural awareness sessions, which equip teachers heading out into remote communities with the skills they need for successful tenures.
Of the 170 new recruits, more than 40 are male. Nearly 70 of the new teachers are heading out to work in remote schools.
